Volunteer Opportunites

Adult volunteers are needed to help drive the kids to CHAOS and the Big House on Wednesday nights. Please call the office if you can help.

If you have an interest in being a substitute teacher for this years Sunday School, please let the office know or contact Marci Fish at 988-3226.

GOOD NEWS!!! More young families are joining us on Sunday’s!  More families = More children.  So now we need more help!  Please volunteer to help our young ones in nursery and Children’s Church.  Nursery duties involve playing with the children, taking care of babies, and making Mom’s and Dad’s feel comfortable leaving their little ones.  Children’s Church lessons are planned for you and all materials are ready to go on Sunday.  All you have to do is present the lesson and help encourage the children to know more about God and their faith.  For nursery we need helpers on Sundays from 9:00-11:15.  For Children’s Church we need help during Pastor Ron’s sermon, about 10:40 to the end of worship service.  We are looking for teenagers through adult age helpers, male or female.  The schedule rotates so the more volunteers we have the longer the rotations are.

We would like to train a few people to play our worship service on Sunday evenings at 5:30 P.M.  This is a simple job that only takes about an hour at City Hall. Contact the church office if you can help.

We are looking for volunteers to run the computer and soundboard during the worship services on Sundays.  Please contact the church secretary at 319-988-4510 if you are interested.

 Visitation Team

Do you enjoy talking and visiting with people?   Are you looking for a worthwhile outreach opportunity?  We have several members in our church family that are in nursing homes, home-bound, sick, or lonely and would love to have someone visit them.  If you are interested in being part of this team, please call Erlene Rhoades using the contact information below.

 Visitation Team Guidelines

1)     Call the church member asking if they would like someone to visit and ask if they would like communion served; if they want communion, please contact a member of the Deacon Board.

2)    Take a small gift – i.e. flower, plant, magnet, bookmark, or coffee & sweet roll  to share  (optional)

3)    Offer prayer

4)    Report all visits made to Deacon Board Secretary, Erlene Rhoades, at 988-4396 or Rhojefferl@mchsi.com    She will keep track of those people who are being visited and how often.  (The Deacon Board recommends that a visit is made at least once a month.)

5)    Report additional prayer concerns to Linda Braden, our Prayer Team Leader & Deacon Board Chair, at 988-3281 or Linda.braden@vgm.com
